Edward W. Staples (1836-1905) was a successful and powerful business + political leader in Biddeford in the 19^th century. The Staples family was deeply embedded in the business, financial and political elite of Biddeford, and to an extent Saco, during the turn of the century. They are a rich example of the power class of “old Biddeford” during that era.
